ABOUT ME

Real soul comes from lived experience and pianist, vocalist, composer, and educator, Hakim Law has plenty.

A longtime musician and resident of Boston, MA by way of Pittsburgh, PA, Hakim has remained a staple in Boston’s jazz, blues, and soul scene, inking his name in the city’s rich history of arts and culture over the past four decades.

Hakim has toured with R&B and Soul groups like The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters, and formed his own ensemble alongside the likes of Charlie Thomas, Herb Reed,  Little Joe Cook,  Herman Johnson, Chuck Langford,  Sonny Carrington and countless others. An international touring artist, Law’s skills as a pianist and vocalist have led him into international waters in Japan, China, Spain, and Italy.

As a former teaching artist at The New England Conservatory of Music and freelance educator, Hakim has ushered many a generation of great jazz and blues pianists, nurturing and challenging musicians at every level of their musical journeys.

Hakim sincerely believes in the joy, expression, and empowerment music illuminates in us all -- whether working with other musicians on a gig, a film score, or in the practice room, you’ll leave the Hakim Law experience with one integral sentiment at the forefront: music is first accessed from the heart.
